Продолжаем наши публикации упражнений по словообразованию для учащихся уровня CAE/advanced level по учебнику Destination C1-C2. Указанная книга является основным пособием, по которому готовятся большинство участников заключительного этапа республиканской олимпиады по английскому языку. Учебник сам по себе очень информативный, но недостаточность повторяемости учебного  материала — это беда многих учебных пособий. Вот и приходится учителям под любимые учебники накапливать материал, надеясь, что он будет востребован.

Упражнение на словообразование (CAE)

1. All enquiries will be dealt with as speedily as possible. [speed]
2. He was known for his outspoken views on various controversies. [speak]
3. He was the victim of his own greed and selfishness. [self]
4. He’d been behaving so strangely that they began to doubt/question his sanity. [sane]
5. He’s as slippery as an eel — you can never get a straight answer out of him. [slip]
6. Her disappearance has never been satisfactorily explained. [satisfy]
7. However much people have criticised her style and some of her policies no one will gainsay her courage… [say]
8. I know she’s put on weight, Michael, but some things are better left unsaid! [say]
9. If you don’t want the computer program to automatically correct your spelling, you will have to deselect that option. [select]
10. It’s nonsensical to blame all the world’s troubles on one man. [sense]
11. No report can convey the unspeakable suffering that this war has caused. [speak]
12. People who are hypersensitive to the chemical may have violent reactions even to small amounts. [sense]
13. Peter leaned forward and kissed the girl’s sensual red lips. [sense]
14. Seeing too much violence on television can desensitize people to it. [sense]
15. She found his intense sensuality irresistible. [sense]
16. She gets insanely jealous if he so much as looks at another woman. [sane]
17. She knew, at this particular moment, that Richard was distressed by the unsatisfactory nature of the meeting. [satisfy]
18. She was dissatisfied by the poor service. [satisfy]
19. So water softeners are added to washing powders to prevent its formation. [soft]
20. The advertisement selectively targets men between the ages of 18 and 24. [select]
21. The agreement would give a new solidity to military cooperation between the two countries. [solid]
22. The event was regarded as of such insignificance that not one major newspaper carried a report. [signify]
23. This was a shocking demonstration of racial insensitivity. [sense]
24. Unemployment and inner city decay are inseparable issues which must be tackled together. [separate]
25. We want to stop the slippage of the quality of public services. [slip]
26. White walls can give a feeling of spaciousness. [space]
